The Superstitious Gadhimai Festival of Ignorance and Mass Murder

The Gadhimai Festival of Bara district in Nepal takes place every Five years; savage attendees believe a fairy-tale that they will have good luck by hacking to death over a half a million animals.  A thousand men are hired to do the killing and prior to the massacre they celebrate and drink heavily. When the killing begins the drunken men, inexperienced in slaughter and armed with dull, unsharpened knives and machetes cause the animals to die a long, slow agonizing death.

“Wielding swords, men enter a fenced yard where around 20,000 are kept, and start hacking at the buffaloes’ necks. As the killers cannot chop off the buffaloes’ heads at once, they first cut the hind legs. After the animal falls on the ground the men hack until the buffalo’s head is separated from the body. It takes up to twenty five attempts to kill a big buffalo. The suffering is unimaginable.” Pramada Shah, president of the Animal Welfare Network Nepal

During the slaughter the nearby lake is so filled with the blood of the animals that absolutely nothing can live in the water for years, it takes almost five years for the lake to regenerate; by then it is bloodbath time again.

Prior to the “Festival” The animals are made to walk up to 500 miles from India to Nepal; most are starved and deprived of water the entire trip, they are beaten and tortured to keep moving and many animals die along the way.  Once at the site the massacre takes place in an open field with spectators, including women and children, watching and cheering on mother buffaloes are killed in front of their young.  Animals sit in a pool of blood waiting for their own brutal end. Many animals try to escape but are hunted down.

The event is held in front of thousands of children and is nothing short of child abuse on the part of the parent who bring their children there to witness the continuous beheading and hacking to death of a half a million animals. This type of abuse normalizes insensitivity in children who can become numb to the suffering of living beings.

And as always follow the money; the Gadhimai blood bath profits the Indian meat and leather (industry) mafia, as well as government hired contractors from China. The Nepal government spent $4.5 million on the slaughter in 2009, the numbers are not in from this year as of yet.

It is time outdated traditions, rituals and habits are done away with.  This Sadistic bloodbath referred to as The ‘Gadhimai festival’ is based on a meaningless dream that a criminal in a Nepali prison had during the 18th century. The delusional criminal, named Bhagwan Chaudhary, dreamed that all his problems would be solved if he made a blood sacrifice to Gadhimai, a mythological “Goddess of power”.  Immediately upon his release from prison he and a local village healer started the ritual with drops of their own blood from five parts of their body. Apparently, a light then ‘appeared’ in a jar and the fairy tale turned horror story began.  How it jumped from drops of their own blood to the mass slaughter of over a half a million animals is anyone’s guess.  The slaughter is a made up superstition with hopes that they will receive good luck by hacking to death a scared, bewildered innocent animal.

Even if somehow religion would  validate something so horrific, this atrocity has nothing to do with religion. The priest of the Gadhimai Temple himself is against the “sacrifice”. The savages claim that the bloodbath is in the name of their Hindu religion; Hinduism is based in tolerance, non-violence and humanity. Hinduism forbids animal sacrifice and meat processing, based on the doctrine of ahimsa.

A Kathmandu  resident, Motilal Kushwaha had promised the ”Hindu goddess Gadhimai” that he would offer her a male goat if one of his children found a job.  Last year his son found a job.  This past week Motilal Kushwaha was one of the tens of thousands of drunken people in the field hacking to death frightened animals at the world’s biggest mass murder.

What ever happened to crossing your fingers, throwing a little salt over your shoulder or saying a prayer for good luck?  These people have gone off the deep end of common sense.

The following video pulls back the curtain on this holocaust attempting to hide behind religion

“When I ask educated people why they don’t stop sacrifice, at least in their own family, they answer that bad luck could be the outcome and that a tragedy might occur. They feel it is better to continue the age old traditions and be safe. With such widespread deep-rooted superstition it is easy to imagine how hard it is for campaigners to address this issue. The superstitious nature of the stands in the way of abolishing archaic practices such as animal sacrifice as well as witchcraft, racial discrimination, women’s suppression and others” Akinwumi Adebola

Bibi Funyal, photographer who covered the festival in 2009, is quoted here as saying:
“I was assigned to film the festival. At first I seemed okay but when the killing started I suddenly found my knees shaking. In the beginning the butchers were able to cut the heads of the buffaloes in one stroke. Later they seemed to get into a  frenzy and did not kill properly. I would take them a long time to severe the heads. The buffaloes were mooing – it was a terrible sound. The babies were searching for their mothers, not understanding what was going. At some point a baby buffalo came up to me and it touched my tripod. That was when I felt I would be passing out if I continued filming. When I left the place I had to step over thousands of bodies and heads and wade through animal blood. It was something I will never do again, even if they offer me an award.”

The must never take place again; and it is up to us as a species to stop those entrenched in superstitious ignorance from ever carrying out this event again.  The details of this holocaust must be spread worldwide to make all aware of this atrocity.

PSYCHOPATHIC SERIAL KILLER
Penis size: a little less than 1/2 inch

Nick Bedar

I copied this from a document i found about this serial killer “Initial Story treatment/idea about trapping, penning and wildlife contests using Nick Beder’s Facebook page. This man’s website was appalling. It demonstrated the lack of respect and sense of entitlement to kill and torture wild animals for sport that comes from not having laws that protect wildlife. License to Kill America’s Bloody Secret: Trapping, Snaring, Penning & Wildlife Killing Contests Video: opening shot fade up from black…See coyotes running wild, playing in the snow, pups playing, wolves, raccoons, bears, cougars, bobcats, any beautiful images we can find. Last shot is close up of beautiful coyote face Sound: Running and panting sounds only Sounds stop Video: Cut to black then quick cut to video of coyote being held by scruff of neck by Nick Bader. Cut to video of Bader stuffing the dirty fetal position coyote that gave up into the cage…use some of his remarks here. Cut to black and show title: License to Kill America’s Bloody Secret: Trapping, Snaring, and Penning & Wildlife Killing Contests Narrator Jon Way Voice: What does the face of fear look like? Video: Quick cuts of 5 images…. Show image of female coyote being held by scruff of neck next to smiling trapper (use caption from Facebook page saying it was the female mate of the male he caught the day before). Other images to be added Cut to black Voice: What about pain? Video: Quick cuts of 5 or more images…..Show black coyote with bleeding mouth and other images of animals in pain in traps. Other images to be added Cut to black Voice: What of torture, suffering, inhumanity Video: Quick cuts of more images of coyotes stacked on one another ready to be transported to penning facilities (show text explaining about the urine capture) there are various images here on his site, show him holding animals upside down Cut to black Voice: What does it take to make a living being “give up”? Video: show images of coyotes cowering in fear show the image of a trap (in his images) and then cut to the coyote so afraid it curled up in ball as he shoved in the cage. Use the title he made for this image called “giving up” Fade to black more slowly and then use voice over and show this message Voice Welcome to the lawless hell that is trapping, penning and wildlife killing derbies or contests Video: quick cuts to show piles of coyotes, the piles of opossums, show dead beavers and otters, close up of faces and fear Fade to black and then we hear but not see Louise Kane speaking Hi I’m Louise Kane, When I first saw the appalling video and images you just saw they were posted on a Facebook site where the creator proudly posed with ghoulish images of dead or about to die wild animals he had trapped. The killer even posted pictures of a traveling trailer system that functions like a temporary extermination camp so that when he travels to other states he has a facility to kill or keep the trapped animals. As I forced myself to look at the faces of the wild animals this man had captured or killed, over the years, in his Facebook albums, I was struck by the fact just one man created this carnage. Unfortunately a quick search will reveal many others who also do so legally. The accompanying text to many of the images revealed that this man had killed, captured and tortured hundreds if not thousands of coyotes, bobcats, beaver, otters, baby raccoons, bears, opossum and other wildlife, often posing with the trapped or injured animals making obscene and disrespectful remarks and enhancing their terror and fear by handling and dominating them or making them pose with him before killing them. Every year millions of wild animals, like those you have just seen, are betrayed by management agencies and a corrupt system. The laws and our wildlife agencies allow people who trap and kill or participate in wildlife killing contests to trap, pers to torture, maim, and slaughter America’s wild animals without restraint… and or regulation. legally. Trappers and people who kill for sport by entering killing contests or participating in penning like to try and to cloud the issue by claiming they are managing wildlife. They claim they are conservationists. They say they enjoy the challenge of the sport, and respect their prey. They say that people who try to protect wildlife are infringing on their second amendment rights. They say the animals they kill are ruthless and bloodthirsty, that they kill for fun. Video: show animals playing then cut to trapper with three or more animals trapped in a row and cut to piles of dead animals. They call them nuisance species or vermin. And defend these actions as management. And the wildlife agencies allow them to continue to kill and torment those that have no voice defending it as “management”. Trapping and snaring, wildlife killing contests and penning have made life a hell on earth for wildlife and are altering our ecosystems in ways we many not be able to reverse. Our wildlife deserves better and so do we. What do we send as a message to our children when this wanton and mad killing is legal? Isn’t it time to change the laws? I’m not a celebrity or star just an ordinary citizen like you and countless others who are outraged and appalled and tired of having our voices ignored. Please teach true respect of for wild animals. Help to end trapping, penning, and wildlife killing contests. (Just what is penning?) A note on penning from Brooks Fahy: The coyotes this man captured were the victims of penning, a despicable and utterly indefensible activity. After being trapped many of these coyotes, who mate for life and are intelligent and shy, or foxes were being shipped to penning facilities. After being unnaturally crammed into crowded crates for extended periods of time the sick, injured, traumatized animals who were separated from their families are released into pens only to be chased down and ripped apart as “sport” or to train dogs. This is penning Whether they were killed immediately or sold to hellish penning facilities. Under many state laws, wild animals have no protection from men like him. These men have do not have an ounce of compassion, no respect for the families and lives they tear torn apart, the individual suffering of the each animal or the cost to our ecosystems… You may ask how is this possible? Wildlife management is run by agencies that sell licenses to kill or are partially or wholly funded by special interests. Governors appoint many wildlife commissions or politicians with ties to powerful hunting, livestock or other lobbying groups like the NRA or Safari Club International. The commissions may be made up solely of hunters and trappers. So the laws are created to protect the livestock industry and hunters and trappers, but not the American public or wild animals. Even now, when many civilized nations have banned these activities, wild animals like coyotes, cougar, foxes, and even wolves who were just recently delisted lost full Endangered Species Act protectionsfrom the Endangered Species Act continue to be caught and killed in unspeakably inhumane and , archaic ways like trapping or snaring, that even many hunters despise. Ordinary citizens that object are often ignored. Please make your voice heard and help to end trapping, penning, and wildlife killing contests. This past week 12 year old serial killer, Rodrigo Lucero, has struck again, this time he broke the tails of 5 puppies. In the quiet city of La Punta (San Luis)  Argentina. The boy found great amusement in breaking the tails of five one-month-old puppies. After breaking their tails he then threw rocks at them. Luckily, the neighbors managed to intervene and the psychopathic 12 year old ran away.  Neighbors claim  this is the same kid that set fire to six puppies last September, 2014.
Monica Pereira from Asoeco Ecology, stated the puppies are in immense pain and since being rescued, they barely sleep at night, do not eat,  howl and cry most of the time.

He was perfectly aware of what he was doing. He must be held accountable for his actions, especially because the link between harming animals and hurting humans has been scientifically proven!

MAXIMA DIFUSION ESTO NO PUEDE QUEDAR IMPUNE, LA JUEGA SOLO MANDO ATENCION “SICOLOGICA” ESTE ASESINO TIENE QUE ESTAN ENCERRADO COMO UN ASESINOOOOOOOO

COPIO TEXTUAL:

Cheated textual:
It happened yesterday afternoon at the LIC 4 of the aforementioned City. A 12 year old boy got a six cachorritos in a bag of trash, the hit and then they lit a fire.

In the case of the city of the end, a group of people belonging to asoeco were to be a bitch street that had given birth to a six puppies, as it is not found in the moment is a place of Transit, the dog was neat where he had breeding In addition to a group of neighbours, including children who are encargaban give you food, taparlos of the cold and give all the protection that would be necessary, to a little house of wood with mattress and blankets I had at hand to ensure that the puppies descansaran on the spot. The protectionist, not only be encargaban the care of the animal but also concientizaban to children in the neighborhood on the care of them, which are turnaban for nothing I faltase. The puppies were already learning to eat alone, in a little time each and every one I was already in place intended to be adopted by a family.

But the solidarity of some clashes against the wickedness of others. A child of 12 years of other neighborhood, near the LIC 4, was until the place, grabbed the puppies Los stuck in a bag of trash color black, the hit salvajemente and lit a fire in the mattress pulling a animals on the one. The fire caught fire, until a perimeter of about 700 meters. The witnesses to the fact they gave a warning to the police and the firefighters who immediately came to the place not to be able to save none of the puppies. Just one managed to recover, but to the few hours died by the smoke had inhalado.

The youngest person in charge of the massacre was with other young people who escaped from the place on a bicycle, the neighbors in a hurry to save animals do not they caught the lesser but yeah what identificaron, in addition, made a complaint relevant.

The boy in question was aprehendido today by the police and the judge of the time stipulated meticulous psychological.

The National law N° 14.346 animal protection in his Art. 3 indicates: Will be considered to be acts of cruelty, Inc 7 hurt or arrollar animals intentionally, causándoles torture or to unnecessary suffering or to kill them by the solo spirit perverse.

The neighbors were totally appalled by the way wild with the tortured and killed the animals, and they wondered, ‘ We are faced with a criminal in power ‘? According to statements by the witnesses to presenciaron the fact, those reserve their names by fear a reprisals on the part of the less, say that ‘ in the area is known for being a boy violent and a troublemaker who even know what you see on some occasions behaving weapon white ‘.

The evidence contradict completely version of the younger who would have said, after what happened to a child who went to his recriminarle his application, that there were only prendido a campfire so that the dogs are calentaran and that the fire spread. These statements just created more indignation in the neighbors who claim that the response of the child is completely FALSE and that is perverse, some of them amenazaron incendiarle the house and to hit it, given this situation asoeco – asked to put sanity ‘ to the people who threaten to burn the house of the family, hit the boy and rest that alivien their feelings of anger and let’s to act with the Judiciary as appropriate, since any represaría or revenge is not a solution, on the contrary, it is Act so inconsistent and although we understand your frustration, I also believe that we are here to change things, in order to teach children and adults to love and protect the life, not to cause more harm, if not to be and teaching to be the best people.’

Phillip Rodriguez arrest: Animal Control vet says ‘one of the worst’ animal abuse cases she’s seen

A young pit bull was rescued last month from what rescuers called the most extreme case of animal cruelty they had ever seen, and the Florida community rallying around him wants his teenage abuser to be brought to justice.
Olaf — formerly known as Bullet — was seized from his home in West Palm Beach last month after a neighbor reported hearing the dog screaming from regular beatings.

“His condition was so alarming and upsetting that she immediately called me and said, ‘We have to help this dog,'” Trinity Hansen, cofounder of the rescue group, told The Dodo. When they rushed him to a vet, they were told he would have to see a specialist surgeon immediately because his mouth was so badly damaged.

“When you see cases like Olaf’s, you lose hope in humanity,” Danielle Cannon, the volunteer who first spotted Olaf, told the Sun Sentinel.

When the group realized how much medical treatment Olaf would need, they created a Facebook page to share his story and started a t-shirt fundraiser to help fund the surgery.

Meanwhile, Olaf is thriving in his new foster home. Recent photos show a happy, healthier dog wagging his tail, hanging out with his foster mom and staring into the camera.

BY: Jason Davis (mailto:jason.davis@wptv.com) POSTED: 3:02 PM, Feb 24, 2015 UPDATED: 4:19 PM, Feb 24, 2015 WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. A West Palm Beach man has been arrested and is facing two animal cruelty charges after investigators say he constantly punched and even shot fireworks at a puppy. Palm Beach County Animal Care and Control officers responded to a neighbor’s complaint on January 6 regarding seeing and hearing a man beating his brown pit bull. On January 10, officers met with the neighbor who told them that the man has two dogs and she constantly hears a man hitting and punching the brown colored dog. She stated that she hears the dog screaming constantly and can hear the dog being slammed against the walls. She recalled witnessing the man shooting fireworks at the dog as if it was a game. Officers then went to the reported address and met with Phillip Rodriguez, 19, who stated there were two dogs on the property. They also met with Richard Lacondrata, Jr., who identified himself as Phillip Rodriguez’s father. Lacondrata said he has a puppy named Gracie that was running around and appeared healthy. Mr. Lacondrata told officers he did not beat his dog. When officers questioned him on whether Rodriguez beat the animals, Lacondrata said that his son does “spank” the dog and that he told his son not to do that. Officers were then called off by dispatch to respond to an injured animal complaint. When they returned to the home of Rodriguez and Lacondrata to continue the possible cruelty investigation, they found Rodriguez hosing off the back walkway and a dog crate next to him that was recently sprayed off. Rodriguez then retrieved the puppy, a male, red and white Pit Bull mix named Bullet, at the officers’ request. One of the Animal Care Officers immediately noticed what appeared to be severe swelling above both of the dog’s eyes. The dog also had some scratches on its face and some healed puncture wounds on the sides of its face, according to an affidavit. There was swelling that was noticed going from the right jaw all the way around the nose of the dog. An officer also noticed a gurgling sound coming from the dog. Bullet appeared to be very skinny and had scabs and scars on his legs and on his ear tips. Officers noticed that the dog appeared to be uncomfortable around Rodriguez and would shake whenever Rodiguez approached the dog. According to an affidavit, Bullet had staining on his paws possibly from standing in urine and/or feces for extended periods of time. Rodriguez denied hitting the dog and said he was unsure how Bullet’s injuries occurred. Rodriguez denied ownership of the dog, saying it belonged to his exgirlfriend named Elaine Villareal, although he could not spell her last name for the officer. Rodriguez refused to sign paperwork that would surrender the dog to Palm Beach County Animal Care and Control, but the animal was seized by officers anyway due to the severity of injuries and the complaint made. Bullet was examined by staff veterinarian Dr. Virginia Sayre, who evaluated the dog as being very underweight.Dr. Sayre found the bones of the shoulder blades, ribs, spine, and pelvic bones were protruding and easily visible. Dr. Sayre found Bullet to have “no palpable fat on his body” and had suffered some muscle mass loss. Bullet was also found to have two golf ball sized swellings over both eyes. According to Palm Beach County Animal Care and Control, xrays showed multiple fractures around the eye orbits/frontal bones. One spot was fractured in at least four places. Almost all of Bullet’s canine and incisor teeth were broken or knocked out, according to the report. The edges of the teeth were very sharp and not worn smooth. Bullet was also found to be dehydrated as well as having hookworms. Dr. Sayre concluded that Bullet was suffering from severe blunt force trauma to the head and that his injuries were consistent with having been beaten by a person. She stated that she felt this was one of the worst cases of intent to harm that she had ever seen. Following Dr. Sayre’s findings, Animal Control Officers returned to the home to remove the other puppy, Gracie. Officers visited the address and informed Lacondrata that they would be removing Gracie. Lacondrata said he was upset about the removal, but said he understood and did not try to interfere with the removal of the dog. Upon arrival at the Animal Control facility, Gracie was found to be healthy. Animal Control Officers were able to make contact with the owner of the dog, Rodriguez’s exgirlfriend, Elaine Villareal. Villareal stated she would surrender the dog to Animal Control as she was unable to keep weight on the dog. The Animal Control Officer informed Villareal that the dog had no issues gaining weight while he had been at Animal Control.Villareal claimed that Bullet was in poor condition when she obtained the dog off Craigslist, saying it was “unhealthy looking” with scars and lumps on its head. She told the officers she had never seen Rodriguez hit Bullet. Following the investigation, officers returned to Rodriguez’s residence and placed him under arrest. He is charged with two counts of animal cruelty. Copyright 2015 Scripps Media, Inc. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A Utah man has been arrested after authorities say a hidden video camera in the home where he was staying captured him violently beating a cat.

Authorities say 19-year-old Jordan Lindquist of Saratoga Springs was taken into custody Friday on a felony animal cruelty charge.

Police called it torture and say they’re surprised the cat survived the attack.

The animal was seen being shaken, grabbed by the tail, punched in the head and slammed to the ground.

Authorities say the cat’s owner installed a “nanny cam” surveillance system after spending hundreds of dollars on vet bills for injuries from suspected abuse.

Lindquist was living with the owner’s family. He posted $5,000 bail Sunday.

The Associated Press couldn’t verify whether Lindquist had a listed telephone number or an attorney who could comment on the charge.

PETA in Germany offered a €1,000 (£730) reward to anyone who could identify the German hunter photographed posing with the body of the huge elephant that was circulated widely online after the Telegraph revealed the animal had been killed as a trophy on a private shoot.

Rainer Schorr, a real estate CEO, was named by three separate sources as the hunter who sparked global anger after killing what is thought to be the biggest elephant killed in Africa for almost 30 years.

Nkombo_3_3473786b

In a case that echoes the furore that erupted after Cecil the lion was shot by an American dentist, 55-year-old Mr Schorr paid $60,000 (£39,000) for a permit to hunt a large bull elephant.

• Prince William tells Chinese ‘elephants will be extinct by the time Princess Charlotte is 25’ unless they act now

A former friend of the businessman told the Telegraph he recognised as Mr Schorr the man posing with the body of the huge elephant in a photo that was circulated widely online after this paper revealed the animal had been killed as a trophy on a private shoot costing thousands of pounds.

The man, who ended his eight-year friendship with the CEO more than a year ago over a business disagreement, said he was told a few weeks ago by a mutual friend of his and Mr Schorr’s that the businessman was on a hunting trip in Zimbabwe.

Schorr-2_3477924bRainer Schorr on a hunt

But after seeing the photo and believing his former friend had killed a huge animal, the man’s partner contacted PETA and identified the hunter as the founder and CEO of private equity and asset management company Rainer Schorr Beteiligungsgesellschaft (RSB) in Berlin.

“I was a little bit surprised because after that lion in summer … We are no longer in the times when you can do something like that. Why should we hunt these animals today?” said the man, who asked not to be named.

“Those big elephants, that’s not really the challenge. I don’t know why you do that nowadays.”

The former friend said hunting was Mr Schorr’s “big passion”, and that the entrepreneur partly owned a farm of around 12,000-13,000 acres in Namibia where he would indulge in this pursuit.

The man said of the elephant: “I never saw one like that before – you see small tuskers, but a big tusker, I always wanted to see one.

Elephant-hunter-ho_3473807bA hunter with the tusks taken from an elephant killed in a hunt organised by SSG Safaris close to Zimbabwe’s Gonarezhou National Park

“Such a big tusk elephant, he should be kept, even if he’s 50 years old, he still can make some babies and pass on the genes.”

He added: “On the other side, you have to be realistic, when that guy pays for a hunt, which is legal in Zimbabwe, you do nothing wrong according to national laws.”

elephant-tusk-nkom_3473818bThe weigh-in: One of the elephant’s tusks is placed on a scale

Cecil, a black-maned lion beloved by tourists, was shot by American dentist Walter Palmer in Hwange National Park using a bow and arrow in July, triggering international anger.

It was claimed that Mr Schorr was accompanied by a local, experienced professional hunter esteemed by the hunting community for finding his clients large elephants.

The huge animal, whose exceptional size was illustrated by his tusks, each weighing in at around 110lb each, was shot on October 7 in a private hunting concession in Malipati safari area.

The businessman, described as a father-of-one, is reported to have travelled to Zimbabwe to conduct a 21-day game hunt including species among the Big Five of elephants, leopards, lions, buffalo and rhinoceros.

schroor-3_3477928bPETA in Germany had offered a reward to anyone who could name the hunter

Although the hunt was legal, with the kill celebrated in hunting forums around the world where it was suggested he might have been the biggest elephant killed in Africa for almost 30 years, the case has reignited debate over hunting animals as trophies.

Conservationists and photographic safari operators in the area were in uproar, saying the animal, thought to be between 40 and 60 years’ old, was exceptional and should have been preserved for all to see.

When approached by the Telegraph, Mr Schorr said: “I don’t know what you are talking about. You have the wrong person.” He claimed he was at a trade fair from October 5-8 in Munich, southern Germany, at the time the hunt took place.

Although Mr Schorr did not specify which trade fair he claimed he attended, it is understood he meant the Expo Real investment and real estate trade fair which took place in the city from October 5-7.

However, Mr Schorr’s name does not appear in the published list of participants at the trade fair, and when contacted for the full list of participants who had not agreed to appear in the official public list, a spokeswoman for organisers Messe München said they could not disclose that information because of data protection.

schroor-4_3477934bRainer Schorr claimed he was at a trade fair at the time of the hunt

Mr Schorr was asked for a further comment, together with confirmation proving that he was at the trade fair, but he has not responded, and his office said that he was no longer contactable regarding this matter.

Harald Ullmann, vice president of PETA Germany, said: “The person responsible for this was so stupid, he thought he could quietly fell a massive elephant for kicks and get away with it, and then fled into hiding.”

In Zimbabwe hunting is legally permitted in certain areas and the Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority has said that Malipati safari area, where the elephant was shot, is being leased out to the Chiredzi Rural District council under “arrangements where communities benefit from revenue generated from wildlife based projects including hunting in the area”.

“Such hunts go a long way in assisting communities in the surrounding area,” said the Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority in a statement.

It added that the elephant population of the Gonarezhou-Malipati complex was estimated at 11,452 elephants according to a 2014 aerial survey, and that the Malipati safari area is allocated an annual sustainable quota and hunting permit.

Leather: Hell for Animals and Children in Bangladesh

source peta.com

Singer and animal rights activist Leona Lewis narrates a shocking PETA video exposé of Bangladesh’s billion-dollar leather industry, which reveals who really pays the highest price for “affordable” leather: animals and workers, including children.

Long and Agonizing Transports

Every year, an estimated 2 million cows from India are bound, thrown onto trucks, and transported thousands of miles to Bangladesh in order to circumvent Indian slaughter bans. Video footage reveals that many cows were emaciated, exhausted, and so malnourished that they couldn’t stand up by the time they arrived. They suffered from broken tails and open, festering wounds. The eyewitness did not see any veterinary care given to the animals.

Skinned Alive and Slaughtered

Cows and goats are often illegally slaughtered for their skins on the streets of Bangladesh at night, and the animals are forced to watch others’ throats being cut with a knife. In official slaughterhouses, workers bind their legs and slit their throats—all while they’re still conscious. As seen in the video footage, cows are sometimes still alive and kicking as their skin is ripped off their bodies.

Dangers to Workers

Workers, including children, were documented performing hazardous tasks such as soaking hides in toxic chemicals and using knives to cut the skins, which are then used to make hand bags, shoes, and other leather products that are sold around the world. Children even operate machinery. The unprotected workers stand barefoot in cancer-causing chemicals and use acids that can cause chronic skin diseases. An estimated 90 percent of these tannery workers die before the age of 50.

The eyewitness visited several businesses in an area of Dhaka that has more than 150 tanneries but not a single sewage plant. Toxic chemical substances are instead dumped into the nearby river, killing animals in and near the water and causing a threat to public health.

The fastest way to ensure an abused animal’s suffering continues is to witness it and do nothing. This is a story of someone who did the opposite.

Last month, Samar Khan was on vacation in Pakistan when she stopped for a visit at the Murghazar Zoo, in the capital city of Islamabad — but the cheery outing was soon drained of any joy. There, Khan encountered one of the world’s saddest animal captives, a male elephant named Kaavan, whose torturous existence was too much for Khan to overlook.

YouTube/Junoon Extra“I was astonished and sad to see the elephant was standing at one place throughout the time (I spent almost 45 minutes in the zoo) and his legs were all chained up,” Khan later wrote. “He was moving his head from left to right continuously and not once I saw that he stopped … the first thought that came to my mind was that he was drugged. He kept standing at the same place without moving a leg. The only thing that was moving in his body was his head, from left to right … it was a pitiful sight.”

Facebook/Unchain Kaavan the ElephantWhat Khan witnessed that day on her brief visit was just the latest scene from the elephant’s long, tragic life. Kaavan had been sent to the zoo from Bangladesh three decades earlier, when he was just a calf. Since then, he’s spent most of his life shackled in an enclosure by himself, exhibiting tell-tale signs of psychological torment.

Every year, the zoo attracts around a million visitors, most of whom likely pass Kaavan’s enclosure and carry on their way. Khan, on the other hand, was spurred into action.

Once back home in California, she launched a petition on Change.org informing others of what she’d seen and calling on them to help bring about a better life for Kaavan— and the response was overwhelming. In a matter of days, more than 30,000 people from around the world had added their names to the petition.

From Khan’s single voice, a multitude’s joined the call. Together their voices were too loud to ignore.

Facebook/Unchain Kaavan the ElephantIn light of Khan’s petition, Islamabad’s government entity overseeing the zoo, the Capital Development Authority, held a meeting that will give Kaavan no small level of relief from his suffering. Officials announced that the lonely elephant will be freed from his shackles, according to The Express Tribune.

“The chairman has strictly directed to remove all chains at earliest,” Sheikh Suleman, director-general of the environment, told the paper. “Chairman has ordered the zoo management to follow standard and international protocols defined for the captive animals.”

Facebook/Unchain Kaavan the ElephantUnless his handlers fail to comply with the orders, Kaavan’s quality of life will soon be greatly improved — but true freedom is still out of reach. While Khan’s petition proves that a grassroots effort can help bring about change, it has yet to secure what the captive elephant needs most: to be relocated to a place where he can live in peace.

“Please speak up for Kaavan!” Khan urges. “Put pressure on the authorities to phase out their elephant exhibit and send Kaavan to an elephant sanctuary abroad!”

This Florida Town Is a Dog Dumping Ground

By: Natalia Lima
March 26, 2016

It is a dog’s worst nightmare. They get in the car with their human for a ride thinking they’ll be going somewhere fun, probably the park or the beach, but when the car stops, the unthinkable happens. The person they trusted with their lives and who they love the most opens the car door from the inside, shoves them out and drives off. Confused, the dog runs after the vehicle as fast as he can but it’s pointless. He’s been abandoned.

Unfortunately, that heartbreaking scene is a regular occurrence in Redland, Fla., a rural community that’s become a dumping ground for unwanted dogs.

According to the local rescue group, Redlands Rock Pit Abandoned Dog Project, there are “hundreds, maybe 1,000′s of abandoned dogs roaming the area and we only cover one-third of the community.”

The animals roam around unattended, struggling to survive after spending part of their lives domesticated. Since Redland is an agricultural area with just over 10,000 residents, the terrain is also dangerous for the animals with snakes, spiders, insects and predators sharing their new habitat.

“When you think about dogs living in the wild, you think of wild dogs,” says Rick Chaboudy, executive director for the Suncoast Animal League, a Tampa Bay rescue group. “These are not wild dogs, they’re dogs living in a wild situation.”

Pictures both groups have shared of the area indeed show very friendly animals—albeit sick, clearly underfed and injured. A (heart wrenching) video released by Suncoast Animal League on its Facebook page shows dogs of all sizes and breeds next to each other sharing bowls of food that the Redlands Rock Pit Abandoned Dog Project keeps scattering around the area to keep the animals from starving to death.

“This is real and no one is doing anything for these dogs,” adds Chaboudy. “So we’re going to go down there and go really hard for three days and document it so people can see this is a real problem.”

The group is taking 19 volunteers in the over four hour drive to Redland with at least one rented cargo van, an air conditioned horse trailer and numerous SUVs. From March 24- 27 the plan is to rescue as many dogs as possible. A staging area will have veterinary technicians who will perform vaccinations, heart worm treatment and any other injury treatments (many of the dogs have been shot by locals).

Meanwhile volunteers will be in charge of bathing the animals, removing ticks from their fur and skin, and feeding them. The more experienced ones will join in the trapping and rescue mission.

The group expects to bring back between 50 and 75 dogs to Tampa Bay, which Chaboudy acknowledges will help but not solve the problem.

“If we get 50 to 75 of those dogs out, to those 50 to 75 dogs, that’s their life, it means the world to them but for the problem it’s a band-aid,” he laments. “If people continue to go and drop off dogs and do this, nothing is going to change.”

Both rescue groups are hoping their movement will generate enough awareness to get the Miami-Dade Animal Services involved. Since Redland is unincorporated, the area falls under Miami-Dade jurisdiction, but the groups say that, after concerned citizens reached out to government agency, it claimed to be unaware of the situation and therefore could not do anything about it.

Miami-Dade Animal Services did not return calls from Care2 for comment.

For those who want to help the abandoned Redland dogs, Suncoast Animal League is looking for donations to cover all the medical costs for the dogs and volunteers to help in the current and future rescue trips the group will make to the area. The March rescue mission will be documented on its Facebook Page and Chaboudy asks supporters to share the photos with their friends to bring awareness to the problem.

HAY UN ASESINO DE 12 AÑOS LLAMADO SANTIAGO,

ESTE ASESINO METIO A SEIS CACHORRITOS DENTRO DE UNA BOLSA, LOS GOLPEO Y PRENDIO FUEGO

Lance Elgar, who was living on a farm in Nether Heyford, Northamptonshire, ‘lost it’ after rowing with his mother before kicking the animal three times with steel toe-capped boots.

While the cat lay paralyzed from the vicious assault on April 21 last year, the 19-year-old then picked it up and threw it on a fire.

The animal, which belonged to the owners of a farm where Elgar was living, died after suffering broken bones, fractures, internal bleeding and a severed spinal cord.

The landscape gardener was handed a 12-week prison sentence suspended for two years after he admitted causing unnecessary suffering to an animal.

He was banned from owning animals for 10 years and ordered to pay £2,353.15 court costs and a victim surcharge of £80.

Northampton Magistrates Court heard the cat died after enduring ‘extreme pain and suffering’.

District Judge Tim Daber told Elgar it was ‘completely incredible’ someone would take their anger out on ‘a defenceless animal’.
